B+E Car and Trailer Towing Training Courses in Derby and Burton
At Crash Course Driving School, we offer B+E car and trailer towing training courses in Derby and Burton. These courses are taught by a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor to individuals and companies who require the B+E category adding to their driving licence. A trailer license is useful for a number of business and leisure reasons, whether this is for towing work machinery, a caravan or a horse box.
Before starting your trailer training course, you should ensure that the person training you has the right skills. All of our trailer training instructors in Derby and Burton have a wealth of experience in towing trailers, caravans and horse boxes.
What the law says about towing
If you passed your driving test on or after the 1st January 1997 you are limited to driving a car or van up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (MAM) towing a trailer of up to 750kg MAM. You can also tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as the combined MAM of the trailer and the towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg. You will need to pass an additional driving test in category B+E if you wish to tow a trailer or caravan which exceeds these weights.
About the B+E Car and Trailer towing test
The B+E Car and Trailer towing test lasts for approximately 90 minutes. The towing test includes:
• Vehicle safety questions
• An off-road reverse manoeuvre
• Safety inspection• Uncoupling and coupling of the trailer
• Driving
• High standard on-road drive to include motorways
