WHAT IS PASS PLUS?

The Pass Plus scheme is a DVSA approved training course aimed at those who have recently passed their test. It is to be taken after your practical driving test where you learn how to deal with various encounters that you may not have come across in your driving lessons ensuring that you become a safer and more confident driver.

WHY TAKE PASS PLUS?

When drivers first qualify they don’t realise how vulnerable they are to dangers on the road. It is shown that new drivers are more likely to have an accident on the road within the first two years of them passing their driving test. 95% of road accidents are due to human error and newly qualified drivers lack of experience usually leads to these sorts of errors.

WHO CAN TAKE PASS PLUS?

Anyone with a full UK can take Pass Plus. However, it is primarily aimed at the 17 to 25 age group, and is intended to be taken within the first year of passing your driving test. You will not have to take a test at the end of the Pass Plus course but you will be continually assessed. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard.

WHAT DOES PASS PLUS INVOLVE?

Pass Plus is made up of six practical modules including:

• Driving in towns
• Driving on rural roads
• Driving on dual carriageways
• Driving on motorways
• Driving in adverse weather
• Driving at night

They are designed to be taken as six one-hour lessons but can be made into two, three or four sessions made up of a number of hours each.
